§ 12.06. Library.

The City of Ionia is hereby empowered to own, operate, enlarge, relocate, and maintain a public library and branches thereof. To assist in fulfilling this function, the Council shall have power to carry out the terms of any deed or trust granted to the City, may appoint a board of directors of the library, and may allot for its support such portions of the general fund as reasonably necessary or as may be required by terms of any trust. This Charter shall be deemed to extend general powers and duties to the Council to carry out library functions on behalf of the City and in particular, but not in limitation, those functions and duties imposed by deed dated July 8, 1903, from Marion Hall Fowler to the City of Ionia and the provisions of Act No. 272, Local Acts of 1903, which provisions are incorporated into and made part of such deed by reference.
